NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

Neuropsychological testing is in depth  brain-based evaluation of how a child learns.  The following are aspects of learning that are examined:

  • Short-term and long-term memory
  • Ability to learn new skills and solve problems
  • Attention, concentration, and distractibility
  • Logical and abstract reasoning functions
  • Ability to understand and express language
  • Visual-spatial organization and visual-motor coordination
  • Planning, synthesizing and organizing abilities

A neuropsychology evaluation would add valuable information for children, or adolescents  with neurological diseases, such as epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, with cancers, past head injury, behavior problems or impulse control problems.  Also if a student's cognitive or academic levels have substantially declined, a neuropsychological evaluation may be in order.
